Vice President Zhang Liancheng Meets Delegates from University of Pavia, Italy

Vice President Zhang Liancheng and Prof. Zhang Baoxiu, Dean of the College, met with Dr. Vaggi, Vice Rector for International Relations of the University of Pavia and his delegation from Italy on the morning of Oct. 25.

Through coordination between the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of BUU, the delegation paid their visit to BUU, with the College of Applied Arts and Science as its first college of inspection. Dr. Vaggi and his delegation inspected the Experimental Teaching Center for Applied Arts. After a guided visit of its Cultural Relics Museum, Dr. Vaggi said they were impressed by the high-level practice courses BUU has designed for its students.

During the meeting attended by Prof. Han Jianye, Director of the aforementioned Center, Prof. Gu Jun, Director of the Department of History and Archaeology, and Prof. Feng Xiaobo, Vice President Zhang Liancheng gave an overview of BUU with the introduction to the College as an emphasis. He also briefed the History and Archaeology programs the College provided as well as the academic and research achievements with regard to this aspect. Upon the exchange of the overviews of both universities, Zhang said that “Beijing Union University and the University of Pavia overlaps in many respects, which is a solid foundation to their collaborative prospect. We hope to establish cooperative links with more international universities, thus maintain the momentum in the process of internationalization.” Dr. Vaggi reconfirmed the importance of international cooperation and exchange, saying that it’s of vital significance to collaborate with such universities of important social roles as Beijing Union University.

The friendly meeting concluded with Vice President Zhang and Dr. Vaggi signing an MOU, signifying the beginning of the cooperation.

As one of the oldest universities of Europe with a history of over 650 years, the University of Pavia provides comprehensive programs similar to Beijing Union University.
